Captivating! A concise 37 min drift into dreamy, slightly unsettled atmospherics, buoyed by analog synths and eastern percussion, full-on reverie prevented by glitch and static. A centerpiece Raymond Carver narration by Singaporean Vivian Wang brings a temporarily muted awareness, but then drifts onward. Love the eastern influence and contrast between clear, clean recording of certain instruments, while beats are often muffled, coming in and out of focus. Moody and fascinating. ❤️ Aviary, Perils Dr. "Buzz" Frenzy (Matthew J Hesse)
At first listen, the juxtaposition of Sonar's rhythmic constructions and Torn's soaring, furious/tender voice would by themselves be enough of a pull. But digging beyond the surface will reward the listener greatly. There is great depth, emotional nuance, intrigue and change, rewarding repeated listening. Ref: Miles/80's Crim/Tibbetts, but this is truly new music. grate ape
My first listen to this was during a massive thunderstorm. I was immediately drawn to "Rückzug" and "Der lange Weg" and love the sense of searching and careful movement on the album. I found it a bit like being on a hunt in a dream. A journey with beautiful, mysterious paths to explore. Thanks to these gentlemen for sharing this beautiful work with us. Dustin Wall
